Summer 2019 Newsletter

Letter from the Executive Director

By EkOngKar Singh Khalsa, Executive Director

It is a little more than three years since I first met Chairman Val Lopez and listened to his vision and plans for the Amah Mutsun Land Trust. Since that time, the Amah Mutsun Land Trust has grown tremendously and our programs and outreach are having big impact.

As a guest of the tribe, it is a high honor for me to have this opportunity to help build the Amah Mutsun Land Trust as a strong organization. The land trust continues to serve as an important vehicle for the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band as the tribe expands land stewardship and cultural resource research and protection within the Amah Mutsun tribal territory.

With the help of generous individual donors, support from many private foundations and in exciting collaborative projects with our many partners, Amah Mutsun Land Trust is unfolding Val’s vision in a very positive way.

As you read this season’s newsletter, you will learn about some of the great work that AMLT has underway. You will read reports on AMLT’s Summer Youth Camp and Internship programs, you will learn about California Buckeye and you will hear from Val himself

I hope this will all be of interest and that we will continue to stay in touch. Your support makes all the difference.

With sincere appreciation, I look forward to sharing the journey ahead.
