Amah Mutsun Land Trust is Hiring: Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Amah Mutsun Land Trust (AMLT) seeks a collaboratively-minded entrepreneurial leader to guide the AMLT Board, staff,  and the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band (AMTB) in building AMLT’s capacity to accomplish its vision, amplify the organization’s public profile and increase the impact of the organization.

Amah Mutsun Land Trust (AMLT) is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 by the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band (AMTB) to promote traditional cultural and spiritual Indigenous stewardship of Mutsun and Awaswas territories through research, conservation, restoration, and education.

The Executive Director holds overall responsibility for staffing, resource development, administration and growth of the organization. The Executive Director initiates funding strategies, Board development, community engagement and partnership relations. She or he also reports AMLT business at Amah Mutsun Tribal Band Council Meetings, and represents AMLT to other organizations, institutions and public agencies. 

The Executive Director will grow the AMLT to inspire and engage Tribal members and others to steward and protect culturally important landscapes and resources and to seek understanding of our plant and animal kin.

 This is a multi-faceted position, which requires the ability to jump between various responsibilities, while keeping the long-range vision and needs of the organization in mind. The ideal candidate is someone who can commit wholeheartedly to learning about and supporting the goals of the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, and who has a passion for Native American empowerment. The organization will also benefit from someone who is a capable and compassionate leader, has big picture acumen with attention to detail, and is an adept and creative problem-solver.

 This is a full-time, exempt position which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance with paid time off. The salary range is $100k to $110k based on experience.
